My birthday party at work: Mediterranean tapas & French chocolate terrine

This is the menu I prepared for colleagues on my birthday.

Tapas/Mezzas:
Hummus with my Oio Manjadico Istrian extravirgin olive oil
Marinated anchovies and sweet tomato salsa on bruschettas
Baccala’ mantecato with Istrian black truffles
Asparagus omelette with pancetta prepared in the oven

My colleagues at work are all Italians and they all adored Baccala’ cream with truffles. They said it was something completely unusual for them and that they would never imagine how these two ingredients pair perfectly.

Dessert:
Dark chocolate terrine with Mandarin marmalade

A girl from Chile brought also a typical cake from Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile: Sponge cake (pan di spagna) with cream of dulce de leche
The last ingredient is in France and Switzerland known as confiture du lait. The case was a blast, a complete discovery for me. Wet sponge cake, delicious caramel taste inside. A dream!

Wines:
2007 Verus “Riesling”
2007 Verus “Sauvignon”
2008 Cantina di Soave “Recioto di Soave”
