ViniVeri 2012: 24, 25 and 26 March 2012
10 am – 6 p.m. at Cerea’s Areaexp “The Factory”, just 35 Km. from Verona
Tomorrow I am going to Vini Veri 2102, my favorite wine fair, not only beacuse it deals with “natural” wines.
In 2009 I was for the first time at VinoVinoVino fair organized by ViniVeri association. At the time I didn’t know much about “natural” wine movement that was starting to take momentum in the World so this event opened my nose and palate to entirely different oenological sensations.
Its relaxing atmosphere, friendly winemakers who love to speak with you about their wines, possibility to hear interesting stories and learn, beautiful setting in Villa Boschi… All that seduced me immediately. It felt so great to be there after experiencing hectic atmosphere of Vinitaly in 2008. I said, Vinitaly never again. VinoVinoVino, or Vini Veri how is it called now, every year.
Giorgio and Martina Clai with Judith and Trevor from PC Wines, independent importers of Croatian wines to UK
In 2009, but also in 2011 (in the meantime the fair moved to Cerea in an impressive historic old warehouse), I met Giorgio and Vesna Clai from Clai winery, one of the first “natural” winemakers in Croatia. I am looking forward to meet them again on Saturday. This year the colors of Croatia will defend also Mladen Rožanić from Roxanich winery that is located in a small village Kosinožići near Poreč in West Istria.
ViniVeri fair gives to visitors the chance to meet over than 120 of the most appreciated natural winegrowers coming from almost all territories of Italy and either from several territories of France (look up for many of the best biodynamic champagnes), Spain, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria and Georgia, the homeland of Qvevri, 2000 years old method of conservation on clay big pots; and – of course – the chance to taste their wines that are authentically unique, because they’re the final result of a natural philosophy of production, and of a precious work done in the vineyard with organic or biodynamic method, or simply without the use of synthetic chemistry, and into the cellar without any forced stabilizations. Check here for the full list of producers participating at ViniVeri 2012.
